Garrison Animal Care Clinic offers pet exams and vaccination visits designed to help improve the health and longevity of your pet.
At GACC, our primary focus is on education and communication with the owners of our patients. We are looking out for the best interest of our patients while creating a partnership with our clients, to make informed decisions together, based on the knowledge and understanding of each petu2019s needs and the goals for optimal health and wellness.
We promote relationship-centered care to provide optimum care individualized for each of your pets. This means a partnership between you and our team, based on a thorough history, physical exam, age, breed and risk factors your pet faces. Once a treatment plan is developed, and decided upon, we can do almost everything in the exam room and send home or email a report of the exam and recommendations for continued health care. Each pet is an individual and is treated based on what is in their best interest, with their caretakers involved every step of the way. We know how important it is for you to feel involved, as well as understand what is best for your pets.
I just want vaccines – Why do I have to pay for an exam?
With all of the options out there for vaccine clinics and quick check-ups, the importance of the annual wellness exam for cats and dogs can be missed.
Both dogs and cats need annual wellness exams until they reach their senior years, in which they need an exam every six months. The needs of each pet are different every year, and together we can decide on the best plan for their optimal health.
Vaccine clinics are a great, affordable option for updating legal requirements. At GACC, we want you to not only update your petu2019s vaccines but also to ensure that your pet is doing well and there are no early signs of illness or disease.
My cat is terrified of the vet. Do I really need to go in so often?
Our goal is to provide a “fear free” environment for the patients. We use gentle handling as much as possible to get the treatments done that we need to do. Annual exams for cats are very important because they are good at hiding disease until it’s progressed too far. In the exams, we often find abnormalities, which may indicate the need for treatments, which can slow or even stop the progression of the disease and extend a catu2019s life.
GACC offers clients with cats an exam room dedicated to feline patients. These rooms have areas for cat patients to explore, pheromone-based controls, and noise-machines to help reduce sensory overload. Our veterinary team practices gentle handling to avoid aggressive restraint techniques. Medication is also available by prescription depending on the scenario with your feline companion.
